These modern facilities will not only increase production capacity, they are being engineered to raise the bar for inflight catering in the region.
The Phnom Penh unit, for example, will be constructed with LEED-certified building principles, reflecting gategroup’s broader sustainability commitments. From energy-efficient operations to smart waste-management workflows, the kitchens are designed not only to feed thousands of passengers daily, but to do so responsibly. Both facilities are expected to be ready by mid-2026.
However, the expansion is not limited to inflight meals. gategroup is widening its culinary horizons within Cambodia by supporting local outlets with freshly baked products and commercial catering services. The business is also gearing up to serve Etihad Airways flights out of the country, enhancing its carrier portfolio and extending its premium culinary offering to both commercial and private aviation customers.
According to Joerg Zaugg, General Manager of gategroup’s Cambodian business, these developments reinforce the company’s long-term vision to combine local culinary identity with global service excellence. Whether it is a bespoke airline menu, a regional collaboration with Khmer chefs, or a refined inflight dining experience, the goal remains the same, elevate every meal served in the sky.
