The final whistle has blown on another unforgettable FIFA World Cup. Congratulations to Spain on lifting the trophy, and commiserations to Argentina after taking the contest all the way to extra time.
For the gategourmet team at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, however, there is still one major World Cup operation to deliver.
gategourmet JFK will support three Aerolíneas Argentinas Airbus A330 flights operating simultaneously from the airport. One aircraft will transport the Argentine National Team delegation, including the players, while a second will carry their families. The third will operate as a regular commercial passenger service.
The operation is particularly significant because Aerolíneas Argentinas does not ordinarily serve JFK, with its regular United States flights operating through Miami. Bringing three aircraft into JFK at the same time therefore requires careful preparation, close coordination and plenty of teamwork across regions.
To provide additional support on the ground, Mariano Zabalza, gategourmet Argentina’s most experienced Aerolíneas Argentinas Operational Account Manager, will join the JFK team throughout the operation. His knowledge of the airline’s requirements will help ensure consistency across all three flights and a smooth experience from preparation through departure.
While Argentina may be returning home without the trophy, the scale and visibility of its journey from New York make this far from an ordinary departure.
