We are pleased to share an important step in our work to make gategroup a fairer and more equitable place to work: gategroup has become a signatory to the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs).
Established by UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact, the WEPs help companies advance gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, the marketplace and the communities in which they operate.
Signing the WEPs is not a statement that the work is finished. It is a public commitment to keep moving forward and to turn that commitment into practical, measurable action.
This builds on the work already taking place across gategroup. Our goal is to increase women’s representation to more than one-third in both senior management and lower and middle management by 2030. At the end of 2025, women represented 24.0% of senior management and 31.7% of lower and middle management. We are moving in the right direction, but we know there is more to do, particularly in senior leadership.
What does this mean for our employees?
Over time, employees should see this commitment reflected in how we:
- attract and select candidates;
- provide access to learning, mentoring and development;
- identify talent and plan for succession;
- assess fair and equitable pay;
- support safe, respectful and inclusive workplaces; and
- measure and communicate our progress.
Actions already ongoing include gender-inclusive recruitment guidelines, diversity training, mentoring and development opportunities for women, and a stronger focus on female representation in succession planning. The WEPs give us a common framework to connect these efforts, identify gaps and learn from other organizations around the world.
While the WEPs focus specifically on women’s empowerment, they form part of our broader commitment to a workplace where people of every gender identity and background feel respected, included and able to succeed.
