Some of the most interesting changes in onboard hospitality are happening in the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.

In the latest issue of Onboard Hospitality Magazine, Federico Germani, gategroup's Chief Commercial Officer and President LATAM & APME, explores why the next era of our industry will increasingly be shaped by emerging markets.

Across Latin America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East, rapid growth is creating opportunities to rethink how we operate — combining global scale with deep local knowledge, technology with human expertise, and innovation with a strong understanding of local cultures and passenger expectations.

From high-volume operations in São Paulo and automation in Incheon to farm-to-fork initiatives in Japan and our continued expansion in Cambodia and Saudi Arabia, these markets are becoming important testing grounds for what comes next.

From Paris to orbit. 🚀

At gategroup, food journeys can take us to some extraordinary places — including the International Space Station.

Our Servair teams in Paris, led by François Adamski, worked alongside renowned Chef Anne-Sophie Pic and the European Space Agency - ESA, to bring French astronaut Sophie Adenot’s special “bonus food” menu to life.

Created to offer astronauts a taste of home during their mission, the dishes had to meet the demanding requirements of space travel while preserving the flavors, textures and emotion behind each recipe.

It’s a remarkable example of the expertise that exists across the gategroup family — bringing together chefs, engineers and food specialists to turn an ambitious culinary idea into something ready for orbit.

Creating a more equitable workplace takes commitment, accountability and action.

We’re proud to share that gategroup has become a signatory to the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), established by UN Women and the United Nations Global Compact.

This is not a statement that the work is done. It is a commitment to keep moving forward.

By 2030, our ambition is for women to represent more than one-third of both senior management and lower and middle management across gategroup. At the end of 2025, those figures stood at 24.0% and 31.7% respectively.

From inclusive recruitment and mentoring to development, succession planning and fair pay, the WEPs give us a stronger framework to build on the work already underway.
