In collaboration with Iberia Airlines, gategourmet Mexico participated in a special event called Espacio Iberia. After its success in Madrid and Bogota, Espacio IB moved to Mexico City from February 29 to March 21.
Espacio Iberia began in Madrid in July 2023, and subsequently in a collaboration with gategourmet, moved to Bogota in September 2023 and then on to Mexico in March 2024. This has been an extremely successful event for our customer and will return to Madrid in April 2024.
The event allows customers to fully experience being on board Iberia on their new A350 aircraft in either it’s Business, Premium Economy, or Economy seats. The gategourmet teams in Bogota and Mexico provided the services as they would appear onboard and are served by Iberia crew, in addition to several other marketing events, including many of Iberia’s partners, such as wine and beer tastings onboard, guided by a sommelier from the Wine Club and from Mahou beers.
gategourmet was invited to perform cooking demonstrations so attendees could learn how the menus served onboard are prepared. Attendees had the pleasure of tasting delicious Mediterranean dishes such as roast chicken with herbs in mushroom sauce, grilled grouper in honey mustard sauce and mozzarella raviolis, accompanied by a selection of desserts and drinks.
This was an excellent opportunity to work with our customer to showcase our menus and educate passengers on how these meals reach them at over 30,000 feet, as well as share with the direct consumer the behind-the-scenes of airline catering. We explained how things work in our operations, paying special attention to food development and safety. Our chefs and Account Managers from Bogota and from Mexico worked together to demonstrate our expertise and showcase our food quality to the attendees of the event, making this a truly entertaining and educational experience. Guests were able to also partake in a flight simulator, try on Iberia’s historical uniforms, as well as shop and participate in drawings for prizes and trips. It was a truly wonderful festive atmosphere.
Iberia representatives worked together with our teams to ensure a very unique and wonderful experience for their current and potential future customers. In addition, Iberia extended an invitation to our gategourmet teams that worked directly on the Iberia flights so they could see and experience the results of their hard work and dedication. Iberia shared with both teams the importance of the Colombia and Mexico markets as well as shared positive gategourmet performance results in both locations which allow them to perform well in these markets. Our employees truly appreciated the positive interaction with the Iberia team, spending time enjoying the event which helped reinforce the foundation for our continued effort in providing excellent service to our customer.
